Ben Garbarek joined the 14 News Team in September 2008 as the newest Western Kentucky Reporter. 

Ben graduated cum laude from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in May 2008, earning degrees in Journalism and Political Science.  While at Miami, Ben was a reporter and anchor for Miami University Television's "Oxford Week in Review".  Ben was also a columnist and senior writer for The Miami Student, the nation's oldest college newspaper.  In 2007, Ben interned at Clear Channel Network in Chicago writing and voicing radio clips syndicated nationally.

An avid traveler, Ben studied at the Miami University Dolibois European Center in Differdange, Luxembourg in 2006, visiting seventeen countries during his four months abroad.

Born and raised in Chicago, Ben is a passionate Chicago Cubs, Bulls and Bears fan.  Ben is also an accomplished singer, performing at venues such as Carnegie Hall and St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York, St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City, Canterbury Cathedral in England, and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.  Ben performed with pop star Josh Groban in 2005 as well. 

In his free time Ben enjoys running, playing basketball and tennis, and visiting friends.

Ben will live and work in Owensboro, covering what matters in Western Kentucky.
